The Hamilton Steelers were a charter member of the newly formed Canadian Soccer League (CSL) and were locally owned by Mario DiBartolomeo. The club played mainly out of Brian Timmis Stadium (Cap. 5,000) adjacent to Ivor Wynne Stadium. Coaches for the opening CSL season were Kevin Grant, Jimmy Young and Welsh legend John Charles. Key members of the Steelers in 1987 were M Jerry Adzic and F Alex Bunbury. The Steelers were runners-up in the first four years of the league's existence as they finished the regular season first in the league's East Division the first two years. ==Year-by-Year==
